Vault Notes & Play Impact

Build a range of different two-color permanents to increase the combat trigger’s payoff; multiple permanents sharing the same color pair count only once. Niv-Mizzet itself is five colors, so it does not contribute a color pair to X. Hexproof from multicolored stops targeting by opponents’ multicolored spells and abilities of multicolored sources, but does not stop their monocolored targeting effects.
