Take Up the Shield MTG Dominaria United DMU 035 Foil Combat Trick Lifegain

Take Up the Shield

Instant from Dominaria United.

Quantity: 1 card • Foil finish • DMU #035

Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature; it gains lifelink and indestructible until end of turn.

Provides a combat trick that strengthens a creature, helps it survive damage or destruction, and turns its damage into life gain for the turn.

Card Highlights

• Casting cost: one generic and one white mana
• Instant timing allows a response to blocks or removal
• The +1/+1 counter remains after the turn ends
• Supports synergies that care about counters or gaining life

Vault Notes & Play Impact

Cast before combat damage to benefit from both the increased power and lifelink. Indestructible can preserve a creature through lethal damage or a destroy effect, but it does not prevent exile, sacrifice, or dying from having zero or less toughness. The granted abilities expire at the end of the turn, while the counter stays on the creature.
